‘Who am I,’ Little Cloud (Kleine Wolk) is wondering, ‘a drop of water, a snowflake or a little cloud?’
‘Maybe all three,’ the wind whispers, gently blowing and taking Little Cloud across seas, countries and rivers.
Bard Bothe wrote the captivating story about Little Cloud and asked me to provide the illustrations of his children’s book. The book with the adventures of Little Cloud, gives children insight into how the water cycle works. Publisher and printer Lecturis published it in a bound and hardcover edition. The book consists of 12 large illustrations that each cover two pages.
I drew and painted the images on paper, after which I scanned and refined them in Photoshop. I wrote the texts by hand. Classic, with a dip pen and India ink.

‘With Kleine Wolk, Leonie has proven to be a true illustrator at heart. She illustrates with warmth and passion, has an eye for the bigger picture, but without forgetting about the nuances. She drew each letter of the picture book with a pen, giving the book much more authenticity and strength. Leonie sucks you into the story. Her imagery is creative and convincing. Working with her was extremely constructive.’
